Who we are

At The Flying Carpet Gallery, we work with hand-knotted Afghan rugs that carry more than pattern and colour, they carry time, place, and human touch.

Each piece is shaped slowly, knot by knot, by artisans whose knowledge lives through generations. The materials are natural, the process unhurried, and the result is something that stands in quiet contrast to a world of repetition and mass production. These are not objects made to follow trends, but to endure, both physically and culturally.

We see these rugs as more than decoration. They bring weight to a space, introduce texture, and create a subtle tension between materials, between the structured and the organic, the minimal and the expressive. Their irregularities are what give them presence. Their colours hold memory rather than fashion.

Behind every rug is a story of craft and continuity, of communities where weaving is not only work, but heritage. And within the material itself lies a certain environmental logic, natural fibres, minimal machinery, and a longevity that allows the piece to live far beyond the moment it was created.

We are drawn to spaces that seek something more than uniformity. Spaces where objects are allowed to speak, to age, and to belong. Because what gives a room depth is not perfection, but character, contrast, and something that feels unmistakably alive.

In working with our clients, we take the same considered approach. We guide and advise in finding the right rug for each space, balancing material, colour, and context. From selection to delivery, we ensure quality, clarity, and a process that feels as thoughtful as the pieces themselves.
