Who we are

At The Flying Carpet Gallery, we work with hand-knotted Afghan rugs that carry more than pattern and colour, they carry time, place, and human touch.

The Flying Carpet Gallery began with a personal encounter in Afghanistan during an earthquake relief mission. It was there that I was introduced to Afghan carpets and came to admire their artistry, fine beauty, and craftsmanship. In a country that has endured decades of war, these rugs stand as a powerful expression of tradition, resilience, and human skill.

Hand-knotted Afghan rugs are made from natural materials using time-honoured techniques, giving them both lasting quality and a lower environmental footprint. For many Afghan families, rug weaving is also an important means of livelihood. The gallery was created as a reference point for inspiration, appreciation, and direct contact.
